Addendum for hex credit cheat

The reason the hex credit cheats don't work is because the save files are compressed. If you firstly decompress the save files with a good unzipper you can then follow the hex credit cheat instructions.
You must remember to re-compress the files to their original name and format, (gz if i'm not mistaken.)
Have fun

why not just use cheatengine or something like it, thats what i did and i have 100mil credits and: 2 argon titans, 1 argon mammoth, 1 argon cant rememeber, the big ones like the argon 1, 2 argon centaurs, 5 argon novas, 3 argon discoverers, 4 argon mercs and a teladi albatross! not to mention all of my bug ships have mobile driller, mass drives aegis weapon and ore collector. i also own: 3 ore mines; 1 silicon mine; 1 free argon trading station; 3 deployed navsats, plus 5 not deployed yet; a crystal fab and a quantum tube fab. i got all this stuff from using cheatengine in basic, search your credits, change it to 100000000 and then freeze it (you dont have to freeze, but it means you cant lose any money!) and i am now probably one of the wealthiest players ever!! (PROBABLY)

I sympathise with WTD as I couldn't make head nor tail of any of the instructions to get creds. However I have since managed it and not a hex in sight. I'm running X2 version 1.4 on windows XP just in case thats relevant at all. I started a new game and as soon as the ship was clear I stopped it and typed; Thereshallbewings I then opened the main computer (return or Enter) Current Ship Command Console Script Editor (Yes it really did appear) If not already logged on then just hightlight and choose Script editor. scroll down to; galaxy.Example.initplayership DO NOT OPEN IT THOUGH Copy (c) Rename it whatever you want, I just called it money Save Scroll down and open Money or whatever you called it. scroll down to and open "Add Money To Player: 1000 scroll down to and open type in 99999999 Press Enter press ESC until back at the list with your money script *hightlight but do not open, instead press R select "Ship or Station" Select the system where your ship is, then your ship Press Enter Now ESC until you're back in the cockpit and check your account. You can now get as many creds as you want whenever ever you want for any ship or station by simply getting into the script editor and following from * I nearly wet myself when I realised that it had worked. Hope this helps. I'm off to crash my Mammoth into something, Happy Days. Now anyone know how to get a complete universe map????

Nothing works. Is this a joke? Open script editor - Case sensitive huh? Then first "T" with caps or with shift? Either way doesn't work. Aladin2000 - You don't make any sense at all, those things you describe do NOT exist inside a savegame. To get all ships - Why this has a rating of 18??? versoth - You're worse than Aladin2000, you think anyone reading there forums is an "iq150 genius super programer master mathematician" or just a mind reader, your mind that is, 12spaces from where man, the actual help would be to locate the credits number. medicrx - Doesn't work either and contradicts with the above guides in the mater of not crossing a 9digit amount, the other guys sugest numbers like 999.999.999.999 (can you count how many?)! hypnotoad4 - Same as above, same doesn't work!
Explanations???

version 1.4 savegame hex editing

in the 1.4 version of the game the savegames are "zipped". You have to unzip. Just do the following: rename your savegame file to .zip (eg. x02.sav to x02.zip) unzip with winzip or winrar. what you get is the file you have to edit with hex editor just like the others wrote. when you finished editing, rename your edited file to .sav and enjoy the game. you don't have to zip it back!

Ok, look. The reason the in-game script editor doesn't work for you guys is because you're not opening it; you're just Enabling it.
after you type "Thereshallbewings" (with the shift key, not the caps...) and you're in your ship, fly off somewhere and type these three letters. Are you ready???
"S"-sends you to the right-click menu. "C"-takes you to the command console for your ship. "S"-opens the script editor.
OK, that was easy, now follow these steps. 1)select "edit script" in the script editor main-menu. 2)at the top of the next menu there should be a verylong line of already used in-game scripts. select "new script" or "new code". 3)type in the name of the script like credits.cheat or something like that. 4)in the following nemu, go to the bottom where there is a line that says "". Press enter. This is a space where you can select the line for your script. 5)find the line "Give credits" or something of the like. press enter. This will take you to a new screen where there aren't as many selections, but the ones that are there don't make much sense. near the bottom, there will be a line that says "number". press enter, then type in the number of credits you want. 6)hit enter to exit that line of script. Press esc. to move to the save script menu. select yes, then press esc. until you are out of the whole thing, just flying through space. 7)press "s-c-s" and select "edit script" again. this time, go find your script that you made on the list. (they're all in alfabetical order). Instead of pressing enter, press "r". This stands for "run". 8) last step!:]~ another menu will come up asking you about an "argument". select "no arguments" and press enter. exit all menus and fly to the nearest trading station. check your credits and try to grasp the fact that IT ISN'T THAT DAMN HARD!!!!

To activate the script editor
Added on
2007-07-17 at 09:56:24
To activate the script editor, press 'P' to enter the pilot information screen. Then, go to change name, and change your name to Thereshallbewings. This allows you to access the script editor through any (ship or global) command console. If you save and load the game, unsigned scripts you may have installed into the game will also run automatically.
Also, before trying to hex edit your saves, rename the .sav file to .gz and decompress/extract it first!
